An ammeter can only be connected to the 5v input end. When charging, it is better that the charging current is 37% of the battery capacity. So, for example: when charging a 1000mAh battery, it is enough that the current is 400. Be sure to use a wire of the appropriate size for the current used. If the wire is too thin, it may burn out, and if it is too thick, the circuit may not work properly.
Make sure the connections at the touch points are good. If the input voltage is at a very high value, such as 5.2V, the current will be less than 1A, this is a normal protection function. Without reverse polarity protection, incorrectly connecting the battery can burn the chip.
Current, 2 of IC. it can be changed by changing the resistor connected to its pin (alta) (in the lower middle of the board, according to the direction of the text). In the configuration, the module, together with the current, is 1A.
Replacing the surface mount resistor with a higher resistor will lower the current. The table below gives you estimates of the current values of some resistors:
